The Cigliuti family, led by Renato, has been making wines for quite a few years. Specifically, it was the year 1964 when Renato filled the first 300 bottles. His family had been cultivating vines before, but it was only with Renato that a significant turning point in quality occurred. As one of the first, he started deliberately reducing the number of grapes on individual vines, and when his neighbors then shook their heads, thinking he must be crazy to be losing a significant part of the yield, Renato replied that it is not possible to have both quality and quantity at the same time, and that he would rather bet on quality. Maximum quality and minimum intervention characterize Cigliuti wines to this day. The family, following the motto "good wine is born from good land", cultivates two vineyards in harmony with nature: the southwest-oriented Bricco Neive vineyard with limestone subsoil, where Dolcetto and Nebbiolo are grown, and the southeast-positioned Serraboella vineyard, where Barbera thrives in clayey soil.
