Cretapaglia
Antonello Canonico manages 3 hectares of vineyards at an altitude of 600 m in the Calabrian village of San Marco Argentano. This corner of Calabria, with its mountainous landscape and the Tyrrhenian Sea within reach, offers ideal conditions for growing vines. The fresh climate with significant temperature differences is complemented by clay soil and diverse vegetation ranging from forests, olive groves to orchards. Antonello strives to follow the traditions and knowledge of local winemakers, and in his once abandoned and now flourishing vineyards, you will find little-known old local varieties such as Mantonico, Magliocco, Zibibbo, Greco Nero, or Guardavalle. The wines he produces from them are light, delicate, and direct. Very short maceration and no intervention in the vineyard or cellar give rise to specific wines that are a perfect reflection of the local terroir.
