Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC Mazzamurello 2020 Torre Dei Beati
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Mazzamurello was born in the oldest vineyard of the Torre dei Beati winery. It was planted in the 1970s by the father of the current owner, who chose the most famous local variety Montepulciano, which has been grown in Abruzzo for centuries. The Albanesi family vineyards are located on hillsides between the coast on one side and the high peaks of the Apennines on the other. They cultivate the vines organically, without chemicals, and select only the best grapes for their wines. Mazzamurello ages for 20 months in barriques and also undergoes batonnage. As a result, the wine boasts a distinct structure and balance, fruity aroma complemented by elegant floral and spicy notes. It pairs well with rich dishes like beef stew, braised wild boar, or aged cheeses.

Torre dei Beati
The Torre dei Beati winery was founded in 1999 when Fausto Albanesi took over the vineyards from his father. From the very beginning, he knew he wanted to produce high-quality, honest wines that express the best of local varieties, so he immediately started farming organically. In 2000, the first bottle of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo was produced. Initially, the wine was made only on the ground floor of an old country house in the middle of the vineyard, later expanding with a cellar and new production facilities. Fausto and his family manage 21 hectares of vineyards in the renowned wine region of Loreto Aprutino. The vineyards are located on hills at an altitude of 300 m above sea level between the Gran Sasso mountain massif and the coast. During the day, pleasant temperatures are influenced by the gentle sea breeze, and at night the temperature drops significantly due to the cool air from the mountains. Well-ventilated vineyards are less prone to mold and other diseases, allowing for chemical-free vine cultivation. The oldest vineyards were planted in the 1970s with the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo variety, later complemented by two other indigenous white varieties: Pecorino and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. The driving force of the entire winery is Fausto's relentless curiosity, which drives him to constantly experiment, observe the characteristics of individual varieties, and strive to ensure his wines best express the terroir and unique characteristics of local varieties.
